At the beginning of September 1968, George Martin took an "unprecedented"
month-long break from the "White Album" recording sessions.
During
his absence, Chris Thomas was listed as Producer on the following numbers:
Helter Skelter, Glass Onion, I Will, Birthday, Piggies and Happiness Is
A Warm Gun.
Chris has since stated that he was never asked to be the Beatles' Producer.
When he arrived back from his own vacation, George Martin left a note
asking him to continue to attend the sessions and "make himself available
to the Beatles.."
